Welcome to the official website of Local Aid for Children and Community Special Needs! We are a registered charity (no: 1104585) and voluntary organisation based in Swansea, South Wales. Our beneficiary area covers the City and County of Swansea and Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council.
The aim of Local Aid is to raise awareness of the needs and aspirations of young people with special needs. The organisation provides specialist equipment; arranges travel support, specialist services and activities for young people with severe learning disabilities and challenging behaviour in our local communities. The organisation supports young people with learning difficulties and physical disabilities, and promotes the rights of individuals to be supported to reach their potential. We actively support children and families in need. We offer fun, choice and opportunity for these young people through a number of avenues. Swansea volunteers recognised by The Queen with prestigious Award.
Local Aid ‘Buddies Project’ based in Swansea has been announced as one of 103 UK volunteering groups to win The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, the MBE for volunteer groups. The prestigious National Honour recognises outstanding contributions made to local communities by groups voluntarily devoting their time for the benefit of others. It sets the national benchmark for excellence in volunteering, with the work of those awarded being judged of the highest standard.
With items like beds or sofa and chairs please check if they carry a fire certificate label, this is usually a triangular sign with a cigarette symbol crossed out. Without this we will be unable to accept the item.
